The Mitaku are a humanoid species usually 4-5ft in height, with human like facial features, except for a pattern that appears on their forehead which is unique to each Mitaku from which antenna sprout. Their skin is usually deep shades of red, blue or purple, and when they bleed their blood is dark brown. Most Mitaku reach their full height around age 25, fully mature by age 30, and can live up to 500 years.
Telepathy
Their forehead pattern and their antenna emerges around ages 17-21 at the same time a Mitaku gains telepathic powers. These powers allow telepathic communication of words, images, sounds, video, and emotions between other nearby Mitaku, though technology has allowed this telepathic communication to expand over vast distances. While telepathy works between Mitaku, with other species either a one way emotional connection from the other species to the Mitaku registers, or nothing at all, depending on the species in question.
The antenna that grows from their forehead helps to amplify their telepathic abilities. It has no pain receptors and take around a month to grow back, so it is possible to see Mitaku with no or small antenna as these have been lost due to injury or donation to medical use. The touching of antenna with other Mitaku is seen to be a very intimate act within Mitakuan culture, and is understood to be very pleasurable. When fully grown and a Mitaku is calm, the antenna extends around the side of a Mitakuan's head, but can be moved around in response to emotion.
Society
The Mitaku are generally a pacifistic nature given their telepathic bonds allow them to grow more empathic links with each other, while this is not the case of all Mitaku. They are also more in tune with nature than usual, and their worlds reflect this clean and natural approach, full of greenery and life.
Diet
Given their pacifistic nature, the Mitaku are generally vegetarians, as they have grown accustomed to only using their farm animals to harvest eggs, milk and other products, rather than killing them outright. Over time, this has meant that while their bodies can still digest meat-related products, it does cause them distress to eat in that way.
