Important Notes:

The day job of the Eldenians is protecting the galaxy from multiversal and intergalactic horrors that wish for nothing more than to devour all existence and use your body as a conscious sock puppet. They see Biotics and their antics as a field of study, and get extremely jumpy when reanimation are mentioned.
The Eldenian population is condensed into five Shield Worlds, gargantuan constructs that bridge the physical and spiritual realms. The actors in this RP are from Shield World Xelitian, the Shield World at the forefront of technological innovation and a pioneer in Biotic cooperation and interference.

A Quick Note on How to Write an RP Post

Just doing this quick announcement, because I've noticed some trends in the writing of some of the players here. Without embarrassing anyone by calling out their names Xah, let's get into it.

Writing for a role-playing game is fundamentally different from writing for a novel. RP posts are smaller, more compact and also has different requirements for their structure. I'll be focusing on the structure here.

Think about an RP post as a single piece of a jigsaw puzzle. A novel has to be a full, complete puzzle piece without any tabs (round bit poking out) or blanks (round bits indented in for tabs to fit into), unless you're anticipating a sequel and looking to end on a cliffhanger you sick bastard you.

The first post of a thread must always have either a tab (a hook to let players latch onto) or a blank (to let players fill in.) Without these tabs and blanks, there's no way for the next player to continue the RP!

Image

The next player then has to write another post with two hooks, two tabs, or one of each to join their post with the previous one and for the next player to reply to.

Image

It is the responsibility of every player to create new blanks or tabs for other players to use. In this analogy, a blank is an incomplete, open-ended part of the post, as with a question in a conversation. For example: "What should I do?" Post with blanks are not 'complete', per se and it's up to the other player to fill it in with their reply. The character in this example does not know what to do until the replier suggests something.

In contrast, a tab is a complete, close-ended post with a bit of 'extra' material. In a conservation example, the tab is like saying: "You should go to the mall to buy some new shoes." The player has given a suggestion and it's up to the replier to accept or decline the invitation.

Remember: Without these tabs and blanks, it's not possible for an RP to continue! This is one of the many ways an RP might die. We call these deadends, and an easy way to remember not to make these deadends to remember the phrase: "Don't let your post fall flat!"

Image

If you are writing for more than one replier than leave multiple blanks and tabs!

Image

A completed RP should be a completed jigsaw puzzle (unless a sequel is in the works and you have a good idea of what to expect. But also remember that blanks are incomplete and if you sequel doesn't deliver then there's only disappointment!)

Re: The Light After the Dusk

Twinkle gingerly picked her way down the cratered terrain that wad formerly the fourth floor of Sierra Six. Below her, a wide, gaping maw had formed where parts of the floor below it had been blasted away. The only problem was, of course, Sierra Six only ever had four floors, or at least that was what she was told during Operation Flashpoint.

Captain turned on his torch and shone it down one of the holes. “It just keeps going down,” he muttered, obviously troubled by this conclusion, “Ice. Use your pathfinder. See if you can find a bottom.”

One of the commandoes nodded in affirmation and knelt down by the edge of the hole, sweeping her ultrasound projector this way and that as she examined mapped out what she could of the abyss. “I'm picking up a very strange shape,” the pink-haired girl reported, “It's very big and very complex.”

“We need to take a closer look,” Twinkle decided, “Captain, take point. Ready grappling hooks, ladies and gents. We're going in.”

To encourage character development, Operations in the Light After the Dusk will mostly be actions completed by a small group of individual characters. If you're interested in a particular mission profile you can ask to have a few of your characters rostered for the mission. Characters not rostered can enjoy their leisure time around the base and interact with other characters there. Pretty much every mission will contribute to the overarching plot in so way, but don't worry if you miss an important detail in your previous run. There will be plenty of opportunities to revisit recurring locations.

So without further ado, here's the first real operation for the Light After the Dusk!

-carries two incendiary grenades
1x Zevudhite Bravo:
-equipped with puncture carbine, electrified blade and flesthstripper

-equipped with mechanical echolocator, netspitter and fleshstripper
4x Zevudhite Echo:
-equipped with puncture carbines and fleshstripper

Combat Vehicles
1x Tokrikhite amalgamind
-heavy armour
-carries four hunter-harvester biodrones
-armed with turret-mounted railgun and side-mounted flak guns
4x hunter-harvester biodrone
-flying insect-like cyborg drones with inbuilt sensors and fleshstrippers, controlled directly by the amalgamind. Mainly used as scouts or a defensive swarm.

Support Personnel
1x Aozokhradite harrowmaster
-meat-harrow
-skinripper apparatus
3x Aozokhradite engineer
-maintain ship systems with repair tools and medical tools
-operate bio-incubators to supply nutrients
4x Aozokhradite support team member
-equipped with a mending-harrow

1x Zevudhite Delta
-serves as stock-keeper.
10x Zevudhite Foxtrot
-near-mindless menial servants for basic tasks
-also living spare parts

Vessel and Other Supplies
1x Cascade Vordekai raider ship
-three defensive turrets
-assorted emergency supplies
-large supply of onboard meat stock
Onboard vivarium
-2x tunnelcreeper (the animals grow valuable parts for combatants) and necessary supplies
Docking roosts
-1x light planetary dropship
-1x heavy planetary dropship

Multivocalisers
-Implanted translation gear that also allows for rapid communication in a static-like code for Kitchip, needed because of differing mouth structures. Used by all personnel.

Notable Characters:

Aozokhradites:
Harrowmaster Chiyukh A-#0856: Designated Harrowmaster of the Cascade Taxon. Elderly for a Vordekai, he adopts the superior arrogance typical of an Aozokhradite. This is tolerated because his immense skill with meat-harrow is essential for both medical and harvesting purposes. Had two extra arms and several minor other physical improvements.

Kannahites:
Supercombatant Metamutilator K-#9112: A firm believer in the superiority of the flesh. Happens to have replaced a lot of his flesh with specially formed metallic blades for cutting. An exceptional fighter, with a giant centipede-like bulk covered in piercing metal on every limb. Useless at anything but combat, needs a whole support team for himself. Claims to be a metamorph. Isn’t.
Combatant Decimatrix K-#5562: Has modified her body to resemble a flat crab equipped with powerful harvested sensors. Mainly uses a giant boredrill in battle. Also armed with a corrosive chemical launcher. Prides herself on ambush tactics.

Zevudhites:
Commander Alpha-333 Z-#3544: Designated commander of the Zevudhites, spawned as an Alpha. Believes he is therefore in command of the overall mission. Respected by his fellow Zevudhites and few others. Bulkier than typical for a Vordekai, equipped with numerous weapons.
Subcommander Bravo-224 Z-#1190: A Bravo, serving as second-in-command. Actively suffers from the Rot, and is trying to get to fixed by replacing everything with cybernetics.
Tracker Delta-040 Z-#0225: A Delta, and thus a member of the technical caste. Serves as a tracker, specialises in capturing prey alive. Resident expert on known alien anatomy with non-malicious curiosity.

Tokrikhites:
Amalgamind AC-98 T-#7767: An amalgamind stored within a personalised battle tank. Coordinates biodrones but ponderous. Armed with vehicular-level weaponry, but less mobile than compatriots.

Important Notes:

Vordekai are shrimp-like intelligent creatures by nature. All modern Vordekai are afflicted with the Rot, a persistent disease that causes them to wither away. To circumvent this, they have developed a society based around taking flesh to survive, and improving themselves. Some can afford to undergo such extensive modifications that they resemble an entire different species.

The Vordekai Continuum is a polity consisting of seven Phyla, each of which specialises in a different aspect of perfectionistic improvement. Vordekai society is dominated by competition, with duelling and organ harvesting being common occurrences. Hunting expeditions are often sent out with small groups seeking out new life and new possible improvements to capture and implant. The Cascade Taxon is one such group.

Having heard of the secretive offer made by the Ellians, and curious about the idea of extracting new organs or mechanical improvements from their kills, the Taxon have offered to take part in counter-Ghoul operations for a time. An eclectic mixture of Phyla are represented on board. The founder of the group is an ageing Aozokhradite with expertise in harrowing. Kannahites provide the backbone of the group, with some Zevudhites brought aboard after a disastrous raiding expedition. A Tokrikhite amalgamind has been accepted on this particular mission for assessment of all involved species.

Aozokhradites are focused on control over others.
Kannahites are focused on combat and biological enhancements.
Zevudhites uses a differentiation system to create specialised subspecies.
Tokrikhites are focused on integration with technology and between multiple minds.

It is perfectly acceptable for all of these personnel to suffer, die, or otherwise experience problematic situations at the hands of Ghouls, the environment, or their ostensible allies.
Volzhkerix | Supercommunity of Tariat | The eusocial jellyfish-bugs stuck in an industrial-tech cold war
Eriaroon | Eriaroon Eugenic Republic | The abyssal cephalopods who believe that reality is the afterlife
Vordekai | Vordekai Continuum | The withering organ-harvesters who seek perfection
Hekkathi | The symbiotic misotheistic pacifists at the end of a rogue world’s lifespan
Enyo | The medieval blood-suckers that march against the dawn

This is a general alert for everyone. If you went on Discord in the last few days you'll notice that I'm not around as much as I used to be. This is because I have a bunch of assignments due and my exams are about to start. So just be warned that I probably won't be very active until mid-November. If you have any questions or concerns ping me on the Discord or DM me.
