The Qorsikan Abolition War

Cold Reception

QE 312, The Qorsikan Universe
The Command Centre, ESS Hunayuki
Lieutenant Commander Chihi

The warp bubbles popped as the timer bought the ship out of warp. The inky void split open before them and peeled away to reveal the alien constellations of this foreign world. More vessels exploded into existence all around them in that same instance of time. To an onlooker in the system beyond it would appear as if an entire fleet suddenly blinked into the material realm. Of course, the light would not be reaching them until a few hundred hours later - but the gravitational waves generated by the popping of their warp bubbles would have cascaded over the system. Any sensors that picked them up ought to count nearly a thousand individual pulses.

“Commander Chihi,” the navigator called from his station, “Sensors confirm that we have correctly arrived at the edges of the Kyu system." The fiery-haired Captain merely nodded at that. The stars of the Qorsikan capital sector were formed in a sparse stellar nursery. After almost a month-long voyage, the Division was critically low on fuel. The Qorsikans had insisted on handling the supply issue themselves and turned back the escorting tankers at the border. The end result now was that the fleet was completely dependent on their allies.

The fleet took an hour to reorganise itself before warping toward the station. Long distance warps between star systems usually jostled the ships completely out of formation as even the slightest misalignment could send vessels dozens of astronomical units off target at distances of light years. Rolls were marked and vessels accounted for. Small, controlled, jumps gradually brought the fleet back together into a single, cohesive unit. It was then, and only then, that they set off for the allied port in the system.

Chihi's Company, a small cluster of vessels, emerged a very polite distance before the Qorsikan starport. Ten centuries of cruisers, each a hundred strong, all hungry for fuel after their long voyage. However, the Qorsikans did not appear too happy to see them. What little defensive systems the system had available had been mustered together into an ad hoc fleet to face them off.

QE 312, Qorsikan Universe
System Outpost
Standing Commander Adenni

Commander Adenni tersely sighs as he reads the sensor logs of the Ella'an fleet warping into the star's gravity well. "Well looks like we gotta make a show for it then." Lighting his cigar he asks one of his aides, "What could we muster up exactly as a defence?" Taking small puffs as he picks up his clipboard and pen trying to fathom a way to inform the approaching fleet.

"According to the rules given to us by the Ella'an King and approved by The Owners... nothing more than we already didn't have. Just two cruisers, a destroyer, and five frigates. The Meson Cannons are now operational, though."

He puffed his cigar as he repeatedly drafts what he should say to the Ella'ans. "How quickly can we destroy the station and the fuel reserves if it comes to that?" He continues to write any kind of script he could think of while his aide was looking up the information he needed until the pen snapped in his hand under the pressure.

"Within seconds."

"Very well. Get me some tea then while I calm the hell down." Leaning back in his chair and rubbing on his forehead. "By Her Name... I was just wanted to retire here. Now, this damn war starts because of their gaudy stubbornness." Minutes have passed until the Ella'an fleet could get into a range for a relatively quick reply over radio. The Commander puts his best face on to appear confident in his own abilities.

"Attention, Ella'an Expeditionary Fleet. Due to a disagreement between our two sovereign states, your King, Kikoya VIII, has declared war upon Qora citing the Casus Belli to end its slavery and the soul trade. We ask that you temporarily place yourselves under our custody in which you shall be treated as honoured guests until Kasharan Forces arrive to give you your new orders so that you may carry them out faithfully and fervently. Hostilities upon this station will result in the destruction of the fuel you require stored upon our premise. We sincerely await your reply."

Qorsika, Qorsikan Universe
Sacrosanct Class, Her Divine Will
War Room
Fleet Admiral Akir Presiding

Admiral Akir awaited the full arrival of the 1st Fleet's war staff to arrive while he read the muster records and the fleet movements overlooking the defense of the Qorsika system itself. The area itself resembling more of an auditorium than a conference room itself with him sitting behind the podium desk. "How long ago was it that I happened to be in command of the first fleet to defend against an Interdimensional incursion," he asked himself. Knowing the threat the Nexus Gate posed he used his political connections and naval authority to consolidate the entire fleet within the Qorsika home system and kept it there paranoid of the day The Owners themselves would launch an invasion fleet to impose their dark will against Her People.

The Admiral Clerk stands beside the door checking off names on his clipboard as the officers of the Imperial Navy enter the war room. Officers ranking from Vice Admirals down to individual Special Operations Captains. "All staff accounted for."

"Good." Akir stands and turns on the projector indicating the local sector. He takes out a pen and starts to draw on the desk which appears onto the projected image on the large wall behind him. "Qora is now at war with the Kasharan Kingdom. The Kashara'a are a subsect of the Ella'an. We only have hours to prepare if not a week as we gather from their slow communications between The Kashara'an Monarch and Her Holiness. They declare that the very currency we use is of heretical belief as well as our guardianship over the slave species we have liberated from their own selfish desires."

He draws a circle a couple of stars away from Qorsika in the galactic northwest. "This is the star designated by the Qor's Star Encyclopedia 312. This is their current fleet numbering approximately in the thousands. As a large number of us have gained their veteran status with the conflicts to the Galactic South and West this target... has no value. This fleet will NOT be sending any assets towards this system. It is for the Third Fleet currently assigned to Imperial Void Patrol to liberate it if required. Currently, their main objective is to acquire the surrender and disarmament of the Kashara'an Fleet so that they may be "liberated" later. If we hear back from them in the next few hours we will know that they have succeeded."

A Commodore stands, Commander of the Ssangeom Flotilla on standby, "And how are we to know if they failed? What will result in their failure? We cannot have them take control of a logistical outpost regardless of how insignificant let alone take the hundreds of souls on board the station."

"If they fail they are too self destruct the station denying the Kashara'an Menace their desperately required fuel and supplies. Inquisitorial Intelligence dictates that they are a biological species and still require food, with the possibility that they'll starve themselves out with the heavy reliance on Freighter Vessels."

"Now then." Akir pulls down the map of the local sector and changes it to the local system. "This is the Qorsikan Home System. All of our fleet assets are consolidated here. All Reserves, Task Forces, and Task Groups dedicated towards defending a single planetary objective. Our fleet has grown greatly since the last Interdimensional Incursion so I'll bring you guys up to speed on the local defensive sphere." He circles around the various planets around Qorsika and outlines the two asteroid blets between Qorsika IV and V as well as outside Qorsika IX. He then circles a point between Qorsika III and IV.

"Here is where the Nexus Gate regularly opens. Currently, there's a science outpost trying to... divine... how The Owners manage to make such a gate with limited progress. That station is labelled as Non-Combatant so if don't fire on it as the Kashara'an will refuse to do so as well per their War Declaration. They've maintained an open Psionic Network with the entire fleet so once they detect a gate opening they'll inform us and we will open fire on any vessels that breakthrough. They'll see the effects of our lances around the same time they'll detect our ships. This is the greatest line of defence as we have their million strong fleet bottlenecked and with the Kessler Syndrome on our side, they'll find difficulty in taking a foothold."

Vice Admiral Mah stands up and exclaims, "A million strong? Even if we bring the entire damned Imperial Navy they still outnumber us more than 2:1. Have you yet levied the states? Will She still allow us to deny us the power to levy our battle thralls? What good are our battle thralls if we are to deny them in our defence and yet we insist on defending them? This conflict will have greater repercussions on them if we are to fail."

"You are correct in that statement, but I find it unlikely they'll send any capital class vessels due to the limitations of The Owners. We are more likely to face sub-capitals and escorts. As for the levies, they are rather skeptical as to the threat the Kashara'an impose believing that they use... a different numerical system. Our Inquisitors are very good at their jobs but they aren't omniscient. To answer your last question about our Battle Thralls... it'd take them decades to arrive on their varying FTL capabilities. Although the more... eager ones may exploit natural phenomena to arrive in less than a decade regardless of their distance. In any matter, they've already been informed and we've had each of their species take their own route to decide their decisions in this most auspicious of occasions. Her Holiness has approved of this and will support their decisions and she has mentioned she may even... inquire of assistance from our Rivals as we now have conflicts on multiple fronts."

The Admiral's Clerk mutters under his breath "Gods, if only we were more patient."

"Now then. These planets have both defensive platforms on their moons. Most of you are aware of the Kinetic, Laser, and Ion Cannons placed upon them. We've come to upgrade them with Meson Cannons and LRMs. The Planets themselves have had orbital rings constructed around them serving as you may have noticed. They're more than mere orbital shipyards and space elevators but also bear a great many Ion Cannons all of them of a very large caliber. They are under our direct control."

One of the Rear Admirals currently on reserve stands and asks, "What of the Asteroid Belts, then, Admiral"

"They are much like our moons but they should be more able to assist in the early waves of this struggle. However, these are better armored than the satellite counterparts and the defensive stations exist only on asteroids with any kind of gravity. They'll waste much time clearing them out of our fortifications."

"No other questions? If not then I'll lastly relay your orders and your new combat formations. Naturally, I'll use all the reserves as we cannot ill afford to lose this conflict but it also necessary for them to feel our might. Yeomen, if you'd be so kind as to distribute their assignments while I detail their assigned tasks." Gesturing towards several large stacks of folders each of them labeled with an officer's name.

"With all of us combined, we have approximately 20,000 combat-ready vessels. There are two Asteroid Belts that require to be contested as well as 9 planets that require contesting. Force 1 is to delay the incursion of the Kashara'an Fleet. The Titan Class Vessel shall be deployed here. We can easily argue that we use a very different numerical system as them and skirt around that rule they have declared. Forces 2-10 are to defend a specific planet and its moons. They are to make use of the fleet's Logistic and Fleet Carriers to assist in the defence of our worlds. Groups 11-15 are to scour the asteroid belts and delay their invasion as long as possible while the Imperial Navy consolidates its strength across the sectors. This falls to Qorsika 1-3 time to finish consolidating their fleets they will arrive at this very system to deny their logistical capacity. Strategic Reserve is already set to deny them fuel across our Imperial Holdings should it come to that though the outposts and citadels will remain intact."

The Yeoman finished handing out all the folders. "If there are no further questions, you're all dismissed. Remember, we're the First and Finest. The First and Greatest Bulwark against the horrors of our galaxy. May She guide us through these dark times with her great luminescence."

Chihi was taken aback by this news - he was not even aware that the Qorsikans had a slave market. His staff met his gaze expectantly. He waved to the Officer. "I'll send them a message personally. Just prep the signals for me."

"Kiyo!" Came the reply. "Kiyono!" It echoed down the chain.

I KNOW NAUGHT OF THESE DEVELOPMENTS STOP IF OUR NATIONS ARE AT WAR I AM HONOURBOUND TO REMAIN AT MY STATION STOP SURRENDER UNACCEPTABLE BUT I HAVE NO PROTOCOLS TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION STOP I HAVE NO ORDERS TO ENGAGE BUT MY FLEET NEEDS THE FUEL IMMEDIATELY STOP
Hopefully, this will be enough to persuade the Qorsikans to let them refuel. He had not seen what the terms of war were or if the Ellian command included his Company in the official deployment. If he was, then he needed new orders as his current ones were inappropriate. If he was not, then his current orders were still to head for the quadriplegic front and continue operations there.

He wondered if the rest of the Regiment (which were still back in Qorsika) had been turned around or not. "Officer Sechiso," he called eventually, "Tell them to send a copy of the terms of war to us. I need to know what's going on with these people."

"Kiyo!" Came the reply. "Kiyono!" It echoed down the chain.

Preparations

Kashara, The Constellation of Richia
Naehaka's War Room, Kashara Military Headquarters
Grand Marshal Naehaka

"Are you sure about this?" the brown-haired, grey-eyed Ellian asked, smoke curling from his nostrils. Most Ellians did not smoke, by there were always a few exceptions - especially among such a large population. "We're resting the success of our entire invasion plan on a bunch of foreigners." His opposite number was an older man a few years his senior with dark orange hair that had begun to grey with age. His eyes were lilac in colour and still full of youth, however, and they searched him for a second or two.

Naehaka, newly appointed Grand Marshal of the Qorsikan Theatre, produced a folder of papers from his drawer and handed it to his long-time friend. "The United Autonomous Republics have worked with Dornalians many times before," the orange-haired man explained, "They are reliable people."

Furahani leant back in his chair and took another puff of his cigar, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the dry, spicy taste. "If they're good enough for you, then they're good enough for me," he replied after taking a cursory glance over the various documents, "But it's still a big gamble we shouldn't be taking at this point in time." He paused for a second to take another draught of his favourite tobacco mix. "When will these be arriving?" He asked at length, tapping a finger on the folder.

"Estimates are about fifty days," the grand admiral replied.

"Fifty days! Why, I could have taken the entire system by then!" Furahani exploded. Naehaka raised his eyebrow at him and the brown-haired man recomposed himself down. He knew the Grand Admiral liked to rush things - a few years ago during a campaign in colonial Zoshia, Furahani had pushed his entire fleet forward a week early, taking his objective well before reinforcements arrived. The brunette quickly guessed what his superior was thinking. "I'll have you know, I took that blasted rock and held it," he declared.

Naehaka raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "That you did," he agreed. As unorthodox as his comrade was, he did get results. The Zoshians had not expected an attack for another three days and were caught while they were still mustering. Many vessels had not launched from their fleet bases and were compelled to surrender before they could even open fire on the brown-haired Ellian's command. The survivors regrouped and attempted to dislodge him, but the veteran Kasharan forces threw them back twice.

The door slid opened to reveal a tall, fairly muscular and somewhat broadly built woman of middle age. Her eyes were hazel. Her hair was blue and was once trimmed short to better fit in a combat helmet. She had since grown out of the old rank to lead in the field but had yet to grow out of her old hairstyle. "Grand Marshal Naehaka. Grand Admiral Furahani," she greeted, exchanging salutes with the other staff officers, "Congratulations on your promotion, Sir."

"Grand General Retoari," Naehaka returned, gesturing to a vacant seat, "How goes the preparations of your troops?"

"It goes," the blue-haired lady replied, taking the appointed seat, "The 92nd Legion is training its men for the native climates as we speak. The 93rd and the 94th are busy preparing as well, but I doubt we'll need them."

The Grand Marshal nodded as he heard this. Three legions was a decent size for a new army group. "The latest Richia campaign would make this the Kasharan 8th Army, correct?" Naehaka asked.

"9th," Retoari corrected, "The 8th Army is in colonial Adora."

The Grand Marshal's eyebrows shot up at this news. "When did that front open up?"

The blue-haired woman shrugged. "Earlier this week. The 90th Legion only just departed two days ago." The door slid open once more with a soft hiss and the staff officers turned to greet the new arrival. He was a green-haired Ellian of average height and build with lilac coloured eyes.

"Lieutenant Commodore Muchi," Naehaka hailed, "Thank you for coming on such short notice."

"Not at all, Sir," the green-haired naval officer replied, "'Tis an honour to serve with you. I hear you want me to deploy to Qora?"

"Kiyo," Naehaka affirmed, "You are to take the best half of your Division to Kashara on the thirty-second of next month. Understand that I want exactly five million cruisers. No more. No less. All the details are here." He handed the junior officer a few sheets of paper containing the access codes of the various documents. "You'll be working directly under Grand Admiral Furahani for this campaign. Any questions?"

"Keyona!"

"Good. Good hunting, Commodore."

Standing Commander Adenni

The Comms system starts to strain itself trying to transcribe and transliterate the reply given to them by the Ella'ans. Adenni, puffing on his cigar, picks up the transcribed paper. "Shit... they're insisting on being refueled as their last orders were to proceed to the quadriplegic front. "I seriously don't want to deal with this nonsense. Yeoman. Find a form for me that'll cover my ass."

"Commander, you mean something declaring that they will go to the specified front and nowhere else?"

"Yes, this damnable bureaucracy might as well be good for something at least." He turns around to start printing out the declaration of war provided by the Kashara'an King in its original form. The AIde begins to shuffle through the various cabinets in the comms room for several minutes.

"Seems we can use the Mercenary Contract form though it'll be easily modified to suit our purposes."

"Good. Head into a shuttle and take these with you." Handing the Aide a folder filled with the printed War Declaration in its full form. "I'll send them another radio transmission telling them that they'll get their refuelling but it's just a simple matter of formality so that they don't have to experience this again on their journey towards the front they're heading towards. I'm sure it'll be an annoyance to them." The Aide salutes and leaves with the paperwork necessary to get rid of the Ella'ans. Adenni turns on the radio and begins to speak again to the Ella'ans, "Understandable, honourable Ella'an Marines. I have sent my Aide-De-Camp to the Imperial Matriarchy your way. He carries vital paperwork that'll formally grant you access to the predesignated front you have been lawfully ordered to secure. Upon completion of these forms you are to be refueled and to continue undisturbed towards its destination."

"As I have stated before, m'lord. We are unsure when they will arrive but we must increase the security rating to Black when they do. They'll bring a substantial force with them according to the war declaration. A total of 10 million vessels." Akir pauses for a moment sipping his glass of water. "It is imperative we need the Sector Fleet on standby as well as the System Fleet to assist us in defending Her People."

She answers in a terse tone, "Even so "Admiral" you do not have the legal authority to make such requests over your station. We cannot simply put back into service our mothballed vessels. How am I to know that those under my employ are properly compensated for their service once this conflict is over? If this conflict is ever over? You'll have my paultry system fleet of 1,000 strong to maintain such a front against millions alongside yours? That is not to even mention the manpower issues that have plagued this sector for decades. We can't even muster enough marines to overcome the dark dredges of the void that now infest the routes you refuse to patrol now in order to "consolidate" against a threat that you declared to exist 50 years ago but has failed to materialize since then."

"This war isn't an empty threat. The Ella'ans will take Her Throne by burying it with corpses. I cannot be convinced that your volunteer force is capable of pushing them back. That is why we need to prevent them from making planetfall in the first place. Inquisitorial spies have reported that, due to their technological superiority, are able to replace this fleet in mere planetary cycles. This is a grave threat and you wish to talk about monetary services and manpower issues? Every woman out there will beg to have the glory of watering their worlds with Ella'an blood and growing their crops with Ella'an Corpses. To have their walls mounted with their skulls. That is more than enough payment for them."

"This Sector has known peace for over a century since the Dekkaran Uprising. You believe them so eager to-"

"Yes. The System Lord, as well as their Planetary Lords, are more than willing to offer their services so that they may profit from the destruction of the Kashara'an Fleet and cannibalize their decrepit corpses. But the paperwork follows that you wish to delay what can be done in mere days and extend it to decades simply because of your politicking. Her People can ill afford such waste in a valuable resource as time. The Material costs are nothing with Her Glory spreading across the stars for hundreds of lightyears."

"You cannot expect me to inform the thousands of ships roaming the sector picking up your slack to be on standby while great Aether Dragons and Daemons tear reality between the void."

"If you truly to use that as your excuse we can see the validity of your claims with the Inquisition. They have an extreme distaste for those who wish to waste time on minor threats instead of the greater and more clear threat against Her People. Just as your predecessor has in the Dekkara'an Uprising."

She leans back in her chair, "Fine." Waving her hand. "You'll have your ships on standby. Just leave."

The Nexus
Qorsikan Embassy
Her Imperial Highness's Throne Room

Incense fills the opulent Throne Room. Ancient wood carved furniture decorate the tapestry laden tiered room with the tiers raising up the farther away it goes from the entrance with Her Imperial Highness presiding on the throne at the top. The Thrones beside her remain empty due to her quarantine. Her Council deliberates on what should be done and who should lead the defence of Qora and what should be considered demilitarized zones and civilian zones before the struggle to contest Qorsika itself starts. "They have more manpower than we have civilians we have direct influence throughout the Empire. We would be hard pressed to defend against their Incursion indefinitely. We need a strategic advantage.!" The Warmaster slamming her desk as she yells at the Lord Castellan.

"Our Fortifications will be able to stall them enough for us to make an appropriate counter attack. You have no need to tell me how to do MY job when it is your job to ensure that such a counterattack can be carried out. Lest you forget that our spies have informed us their ships sail the void far faster than we can. Or are your priests unable to conceive of such technology themselves? How much longer must we be at a technological disadvantage?"

"Fear not," The Master of Armies interrupts while raising her hand. "Their declaration appears that they're rather keen on taking our worlds instead of bombing them to dust. The IDF has enough manpower and the training required to hold our worlds. Even without IA assistance, I would fathom we can hold out for several months with the strategic placement of our forces. With IA assistance we'll be able to hold out long enough for a relief force to arrive in time."

Behind her thin veil of cloth, as she sits on her Throne, she keeps rereading the terms of war set out by the Kashara'an King. With a small gesture, she silences the room. "Fetch us our Advocate. We must abide by tradition and tradition dictates the fastest route to victory is to wage war in our invader's territory."

One of the alien servants quietly leaves the room to fetch the Advocate for the Qorsikans and after a few moments, the Advocate arrives in its Uncanny Valley glory. The lack of light in its soul greatly disturbing the council. "Advocate," The Imperial Highness questions, "I'm sure you have gone over the war declaration given to us by the Kingdom of Kashara. Is it not possible for you to open multiple gates to our realm? I wish to inquire the legal authority we have according to the terms of war as to a counter-invasion regardless as to how suicidal it is."

Cold Reception III

103/03/12150HE
QE 312, The Qorsikan Universe
The Command Centre, ESS Hunayuki of Kashara
Lieutenant Commander Chihi

Chihi looked over the terms of war and frowned. There was no mention of which formations were to be involved in the war, only that a lot of them would be. Five million vessels was not a lot compared to the size of the Imperial Kasharan Starfleet, so the probability of his brigade being involved was very small. But at the same time, his forces are in a good position to start conducting military operations so he could not rule out the possibility.

He turned to the Aide De Camp who was still watching him expectantly, pen and paper in hand. "I can't sign this yet," he told the boy, "This doesn't say if I'm part of the war effort or not and I have good reason to suspect that I might be. Until my suspicions are allayed, I can't leave this system." He turned away from the Qorsikan child and waved him out. "Your communications are faster than ours, right? Report back to your commander that I wish to come aboard his station and use his equipment to contact Kashara Military Headquarters."

Preparations II

108/03/12150HE
Nexus, The Constellation of Richia
The Command Centre, ESS Tsunayuku of Kashara
Captain Miuteki

The eternal darkness of the warp retreated as the warp bubble popped, revealing an empty starfield. After five days of warp, Miuteki's Carrier Brigade had arrived at their destination alongside several million escorts, representing a significant naval build up in the area. They were only a fraction of what was to assemble here over the next few weeks. Yet they, too, were not the only things that were amassing in the centre of the Richian Constellation.

The carriers themselves were armed with well over a thousand strike craft each and they were to be the vanguard the invasion - the key element that the entire operation hinged success upon. The pilots were nervous, but they kept themselves busy by constantly rehearsing the battleplan. Hopefully, by zero hour, the entire 9th Fleet could get underway and complete their mission blindfolded.

Other units were gathered here too. Auxiliary vessels and supply ships that were to keep the invasion fleet operational for the duration of the campaign. The local garrison, which had been reinforced to keep the peace and order. And, several brigades worth of warships on standby in case the Qorsikans attempted to attack before the Ellian invasion plan was fully underway.

Four pairs of large stars shined brightly in the distance, two pairs behind them from whence they came and two pairs ahead of them to which they'll go. These were the eight stars of the Constellation of Richia. But, right before them was an enormous construct of girders and beams spanning some hundred kilometres in every direction with the Nexus Gate at its centre. This was Nexus, the Richia Constellation's ninth and newest artificial star.

Commissioned by Tsunatsun, capital of the Coreward Quadrant, and approved by the Queen of the Dominion of Elliannia to become the centrepiece of the wartorn Constellation of Richia, Nexus was to be governed by the newly appointed Governor of the Constellation of Richia under direct supervision from New Kasmari. This system was to be the political, economic, cultural and military staging grounds of Elliankind's interactions with the denizens of the Nexus-verse.

Already, millions of civilians from all around the Dominion and beyond had already settled upon the incomplete space station, hoping to benefit from the traffic flowing in and out of the Nexus. Shops and stores of all varieties for the soldiers, the diplomats, the corporates, etc. were erected alongside vast stardocks and shipyards the Ellian governments had constructed for their fleets of warships and traders.

Miuteki turned away from the spectacular panorama on the rear screen and sat back down in his command chair. "Take us in," he ordered.

"Kiyo!" Came the reply. "Kiyono!" It echoed down the chain.

Preparations III

119/03/12150HE
Nexus, The Constellation of Richia
The Richian Council, The Ellian Assembly
Ambassador Nesesu

Kashara's military buildup around Nexus had been going on for well over a week now. Yet, as more and more warships flooded into the system in greater and greater numbers, the other powers became increasingly concerned that the 'war' against Qora was merely a pretence for the Kingdom of Kashara to gain possession of the Nexus Gate through military force.

"Ambassador Nesesu!" It was the ice blue-haired Ambassador Chitsumiru of the Empire of Richia, glaring accusingly at the pink-eyed brunette opposite him. "Your state's declaration of war cited that no more than five million warships would ever enter Qorsikan space. There are now ten million Kasharan vessels stationed around the system and more are still rumoured to be on the way. Is your government planning to break its vow to the Qorsikan people or are you planning something far more insidious?"

"I assure you we are intending neither of those things, Ambassador Chitsumiru," Nesesu replied, choosing her words as carefully as possible. An uneasy truce existed between Richia and the Kingdom of Kashara, one that was far too easy to upset. "The Kasharan government is simply wary of the fact that the Qorsikans may choose to attack us while we were still preparing our forces. Our current projections place the date of the invasion on the thirty-second of next month if all things run according to schedule."

This stirred up quite the commotion. "What are you doing that would require such an extraordinary length of time?" Yoro, Ambassador of Botori, asked. The assembly echoed her enquiry. It was simply unheard of for any Ellian state to take so long to prepare for a war with a comparatively minuscule power.

"Truth to be told, Ambassador Yoro," Nesesu began slowly, turning to the blue-eyed, purple-haired woman, "The Kingdom of Kashara has outsourced the production of a major military asset to the Dornalians. We are waiting for the arrival of those goods before our invasion commences." Another uproar. What sort of a self-respecting Ellian would leave something apparently so critical to the outcome of a war to a foreigner? Nesesu bit her lower lip nervously. She could feel that trust in Kashara had fallen to an all-time low in that one instant.

"Understand, Ambassador Nesesu, that Kashara's continuous naval build up in the system is upsetting the balance of power in the region," the newly appointed Governor of the Constellation of Richia, Yumi, interjected. He was a man with bright yellow hair and blue eyes. He was exceptionally tall too, and when sat atop his elevated chair Nesesu had to crane her neck to see him. "If this continues, it would surely upset the stability of this area."

"I- I understand, of course," the Kasharan ambassador replied, "But the Kingdom of Kashara does not want the other Richian powers to interfere with her affairs. We're also afraid of Richia or the Botori-Guro Pact attacking our forces garrisoned here since it is such a large and vulnerable strategic target." She paused for some time, gathering her courage. "Governor Yumi," Nesesu appealed, hesitantly, "Could you not levy Dominion forces to the region instead?" The Governor gave this some consideration, but before he could reply, the Richian ambassador voiced his objection.

"Dominion forces would take two months to arrive," Chitsumiru asserted, "The situation could have spiralled completely out of control by then!" Yumi nodded in agreement. His statement was completely true. Seeing that the Governor was on his side, the Richian representative pressed his advantage. "My government proposes that we increase our portion of the Nexus garrison force proportionally to the Kasharan's."

The Botori diplomat quickly perked up at that, afraid of being left behind in what appeared to be a new arms race. "Mine too. The Guro government also," she added, "We'd like to increase our contributions as well." The Guro ambassador next to her nodded her head in support of the notion, her wild brown locks and big crimson red eyes jogging up and down with the motion.

The Governor looked at the eight ambassadors assembled there and rubbed his head. "This is a decision your states have to make amongst themselves," he told them, before turning to the brunette, "Your thoughts, Ambassador Nesesu."

The brown-haired girl dropped her gaze. "I need new orders from my King," she replied, bowing from her waist, "Please excuse me..."

Re: The Qorsikan Abolition War

System Outpost
Standing Commander Adenni

"Aye..." the Aide-De-Camp answers attempting to appear nonchalant but betraying a small glimpse of being annoyed of the situation. Putting away the pen into the clipboard he's holding he then takes his right hand and presses two fingers on his right ear. A moment passes before he nods. "Seems you've been approved. The conditions set is that only you are to board the station. We don't need a boarding party and the FTL communications require direct contact with a Qorsikan as it requires Her gift to operate. Several Xenos has attempted to use it, even with instructions, and none were able to make it work. Also bear in mind you will be aboard the station for some time. The reason it took so long for you to be informed, as opposed as the last station, is due to the fact replies took a LONG time between your king and Our Imperial Highness."

Qorsika, Qorsikan Universe
Sacrosanct Class, Her Divine Will
War Room
Fleet Admiral Akir Presiding
Speaking through the Psionic Network

"A minefield, Admiral? Wouldn't that endanger the Nexus Gate entirely?" The Imperial Highness was asking through psionic transmission through a nexus gate being projected at only a few cm wide. "There's a reason why we've spent centuries building up the gate around the Nexus to carry its maximum size as well as all the greatest minds we have to reverse engineer the gates. I also know that you are aware of the defensive ring we have around the gate itself as well as the twin citadels built adjacent to the gate itself."

"I do, your holiness, the idea was that a minefield would turn their vanguard into wrecks making it more difficult for their main body and stern to invade and result in a traffic buildup on their end of the gate."

Several moments pass before a reply goes through. "This is your commanding officer and Admiral of the Imperial Navy itself. It would seem you've been fortifying Qorsika for so long that you've forgotten that the wreckage would also make it more difficult for our own vessels to cleanse theirs giving allowing them to lurk behind their own corpses to fire upon us. For this, I am compelled to advise Her Imperiale Holiness to deny this minefield."

The Lord Castellan quickly interjects "Also let us not forget that minefields just don't work in the void. Your subordinates have faced minefields in the void before and you recall what they've done? They've gone around them or their point defence systems quickly cleared the field for them. Our intelligence reports that they've held dominion over their realm longer than we've been in the void ourselves. I'm sure they have point defence systems as well. The Twin Fortresses should be ample protection by themselves."

"Aye, they are Castellan. I'm witnessing them now having their weapons being retrofitted from the standard Gauss to the Ion Cannons we've been requisitioning for."

"Then you have your answer, Admiral. As Her Scion I see no reason to accept your request. The Twin Citadels will have to do. Then there's the matter of the ... System Fortress. I am sure you mean the System's Administrative Outpost?"

"I do, your Holiness."

"You are requesting that it is to be used as a staging ground for our Xenos battle thralls? Who'll be joining us?"

"We've yet to identify them as you're aware our FTL cannot work when the vessels sending are in FTL themselves. They're on their way claiming they've unlocked the secrets to a faster form of FTL. Unfortunately, it is bulkier than our current iteration. They'll be with a small fleet of hundreds within... two months?"

"Direct them an SOS ping to force them out of warp and have them reinforce our outlying systems. If we cannot contain Qorsika we'll prevent them from leaving it."

"Aye, Your Holiness."

"As there is nothing else to discuss we're closing this transmission." The nexus gate closes cutting off the transmission between Her Council and Her Universe.

Slumping down, Akir clearly looks aggravated at the discussion he just had. "Someone get me some tea. We've been denied all of our requests."

The Nexus
Qorsikan Embassy
Her Imperial Highness's Throne Room

"How long has it been since the war declaration?" She asks as she eats her meal behind the thin veil betraying only her silhouette.

The Lord Castellan is given a stack of folders from her Yeoman from the bottom floor of the Throne Room. She rifles through them and takes out a sheet of paper, "Almost a week, your Imperial Highness. They must be building up their 5 million strong fleet." Taking out another sheet, "Along with what our Advocate informs us... they cannot build more gates due to the limitations of The Nexus and unable to make it larger for the same reason. Seems there'll be no threat but holding the gate itself will be of vital importance to our security."

"How is the second fleet faring?"

The Admiral of the Fleets, putting down a pastry she was about to eat. "I don't know, your Holiness. They're still consolidating at vital planetary systems, but they're still scattered around various sectors."

"What of the Qorsikan Sector Fleet then?"

"Well, your Imperial Highness... it would seem that the Sector Governor is under scrutiny for impeding Qorsika's defence earlier last week. Imperial Intelligence is still investigating the cause but for now... she has been detained for further questioning. She has been temporarily replaced with a loyalist until a new candidate can be found. Interestingly enough the loyalist... has informed us that the sector fleet has been requested to retreat from the sector entirely. It'll take us upwards to a month to have them reconsolidate across the sector."

"Sounds unpromising to her. Inform I2 of this, if you will. We can't allow the IDF to be found guilty of dereliction of duty."
