VIRS Endless Horizon, Unknown Region, Planet B/58134-A1, 09:31 Hours.
Captain's Quarters.

The Captain of the Endless Horizon sat at his desk in his personal office, he was currently looking over a list of their current supplies, he nodded approvingly, the logistical officers onboard were the top of their class at the Volkov Military Academy, and they did him proud by being able to manage the rather hard to manage supplies of the Endless Horizon.

The Captain gave a sigh, he had hoped to remain in the Imperial Navy for much longer, but he was ordered to this 'over-glorified yacht for nerds', his own words, but as of now, all was calm, he was still getting used to how comfortable the chair was, even in the navy, officers were given simple chairs that were built to be easy to build and maintain, with comfort not really being a concern, this ship was the exact opposite.

As he was reading over long lists of the ships supplies, the crew, and whatever else struck his fancy to simply kill time, a knock came from the door.

"Come in." The Captain said without even looking up, a second later, the door slid open, and in came one of the bridge crew's ensigns, she gave a salute to the captain before dropping it.

"Sir, you're needed at the bridge, and anomaly has been detected." The Captain looked up, being reasonably confused, anomalies were for the ship's research team, not him, but he didn't really care, better to handle that then look through more files, he pushed the chair back until he could stand up, after standing up, he'd straighten out his military uniform once more, before looking back over to the Ensign.

"Thank you, Ensign Delva, you're dismissed." With another salute, the ensign walked off out of his room, going to who knows where on the ship, once the Captain was certain his uniform looked neat, he walked towards the door, opening and taking a step out, he was still used to the tight and dimly lit hallways of the Victorius Class cruiser, but he was met with a very wide and very bright hallway, it even had a carpet.

Putting his disdain for such luxuries aside, he began to march down the hall in a normal senior officer style, passing by other crew members as he went, the military and veterans of the bunch stopped to salute him, while the civilian crew either just gave him a look before returning to duty, or simply ignoring him, not that he cared anyway.

As he walked down the very well made hallway, he approached the bridge bulkhead, with two warriors standing guard, they both stood at attention, and as the captain approached the door, the one on the right turned around, opening it for him, as he gave them both a small nod he walked into the bridge.

It was very... creative, to say the least, if you went straight forward you'd find the captain's chair which had a semi-circle of hip-high consoles and buttons for him to press, to the left and the right leads to two sloping platforms, which lead down to the lower area, around the side of these slopes and the walkway were more consoles, most of which were manned, and they connected up at the end after making an oval shape around the captain's post, which leads to the helmsmen who was on a small walkway to a disk, which had the helm on it, it was surrounded by a large glass dome, which the helmsmen could even look down on, all and all, it was a very glassy bridge, and it was something the Captain did not like.

After the mental inspection, the captain walked forward, as he approached his chair, it automatically turned around, allowing for him to simply sit, and once he did, it turned around once more, he looked down at the consoles and beyond to the crew, before speaking in his usual loud and authoritative voice.

"LRSS operator, give me a status report, why am I up here and the scientists aren't?"

The LRSS operator turned around, looking up at the captain, "Sir, we've found an anomaly, it's a warp disruption, it doesn't match any known frequencies."

The Captain was now interested, he laid back in his chair a bit, before looking back down to the operator, "Do you think it's an OGC?"

The operator shook his head, "No sir, this isn't on any frequency, my guess it's that it's a code White."

The Captain sat there for a while, before sitting upright in his chair, code white was the code given for an extra-universal or dimensional contact, this code was always a joke, never having been thought to be serious in any manner, but this was serious, and this was real, he leaned over towards the intercom.

"This is the Captain, all hands prepare for a code white, this is not a drill, Ambassador Sel'van, please make your way to the bridge, all defence crew report to battle stations, this is not a drill, all civilians carry on as normal, but stay in the general area of the life pods, I will repeat myself one more time, this is not a drill."

He'd lift his finger off the button, leaning back into his chair once more, before giving out a deep breath and standing up, looking around to the bridge crew.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we're making history today."

Gate 7008
Location 242,12,96
Nexus

+ Re-establishing link with reality
++ Contact made
+++ Gate location secure
++++ Enlarging aperture

Inside the Nexus, the assembled delegates watched as the Gate finished widening to about 300 meters and then as the Owner vessel slid through the opening and into the new universe. As ever, the Owners managed to make what was, to them, a mundane act something important and impressive for the assembled visitors. Most of the attendees had been to several openings before, although the Owners tended to restrict openings into universes with the potential for contact to only a few each standard year. Once the Gate was open and the vessel had entered, it was a period of waiting to see what the reaction of the newly contacted Client would be. With luck, in a short while, representatives would be coming back through and new opportunities would be available.

Meanwhile, in the new universe, the Gate had been opened sufficiently far from the nearby world to not be perceived a danger, but close enough to get attention from a passing vessel. Subjecting the vessel to a subatomic query, the Owner responsible for this first contact judged it to be some kind of research vessel, but it wasn't unusual for potential Clients to be surprising. It halted its own vessel a few tens of kilometres away from the alien craft and broadcast a wide-spectrum message to it, using as much of the local language as the probes sent in previously had managed to decipher, although some of the message was undoubtedly difficult to translate.

"Greetings to the people of the Greater Volkovian Empire, from the Owners of the Nexus. We come to you with peaceful intentions and wish to offer you participation in the Nexus, a multi-versal community of many races, species and civilisations. If you wish to discuss further, please decide who you wish to represent you and communicate on this frequency. Your chosen representative is cordially invited to visit the Nexus and see what is on offer. This offer is not time limited, and we will remain here until directed otherwise.

Once again, welcome to the Nexus."
